(North Vancouver) Just one day removed from the first snowfall of the 2014/15 winter season, Grouse Mountain is pleased to announce that their 8,000-square foot ice skating pond – the only mountaintop outdoor skate pond in the lower mainland – will officially open at 4:00 pm today.

From 9:00 am to 10:00 pm daily, visitors are encouraged to strap on their blades for their first winter experience of the 2014/15 season. Ice skating is complimentary with a Grouse Mountain Alpine Experience ticket and rentals are available for all ages.

With sunny, cool temperatures in the forecast for the coming days, the North Shore’s largest snowmaking fleet continues to make snow in anticipation of opening for downhill skiing and riding in the near future. With early openings to the winter season a regular occurrence in recent years, Grouse Mountain has consistently had some of the longest seasons on record with skiing and riding continuing well into spring.

Armed with the North Shore's largest snowmaking fleet, Grouse Mountain’s 2014/15 winter season is poised to be an exciting one with new night terrain on Blazes (including new lighting), a brand-new race centre and one of western Canada’s most-renowned terrain parks among the highlights.
