November 19, 2010, Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver, B.C. – Winter has arrived early at the Peak of Vancouver, precipitating the 84th Downhill Season opening at 4pm today . The ongoing snowfall, and colder temperatures ideal for snowmaking, have made this possible with Paradise Bowl opening first and more terrain to follow this weekend.

Snow enthusiasts can exchange their umbrellas for skis, boards and snowshoes as we begin another robust snow season.

“The fantastic advanced opening date sets the tone for what is going to be a spectacular snow season,” says Michael Cameron, general Manager.

With or without the help of La Nina (which is certainly on the minds of meteorologists worldwide) our dedicated snowmaking team is working tirelessly to augment nature's efforts, employing the largest and most extensive snowmaking fleet on the North Shore to deliver the best in local alpine conditions. There can never be too much snow and we are committed to delivering our loyal guests the very best of winter, every day. The 37 snow guns blasting away will continue to supplement the present natural snowfall. With the use of man-made snow, the resort has been able to complement our natural snow base enough to get the winter season underway early.

Everyone is encouraged to call our snow phone and check our snow report routinely as we commence the 84th winter season opening at Grouse Mountain. The resort will be open at 8:30 am to 10pm weekends and holidays, and 9am to 10pm on weekdays
