March 19th, 2008, North Vancouver BC –
This Saturday, March 22nd, Grouse Mountain presents the 10th Annual Snowshoe Classic. This race is Canada’s oldest snowshoe race and attracts recreational participants of all ages and abilities. The 6 kilometre race takes participants through undulating terrain with a blend of heart pumping elevations and gentle plateaus. For the first time, this event has been moved to the evening to allow for Apres Celebrations in the mountaintop, Altitudes Bistro.

“This race brings together both recreational and experienced snowshoe enthusiasts” says Jeff Silcock, Grouse Mountain Events Manager. “It is perfectly timed at the end of the season, and serves as a goal for our snowshoe clinic attendees to measure their progress.”

This event is also a Grouse Mountain staff favourite and with the burst in popularity of snowshoeing, it is sure to be a busy night. Snowshoeing is now the fastest growing winter snow sport. The race begins at 7pm with celebrations beginning at 8pm. Race admission is $20 for passholders ($30 without) and includes a complimentary burger and beer post-race at Altitudes Bistro.
