When will the new gondola be open?
The new gondola officially opened on December 12, 2024.
When did construction for the new gondola begin?
The first phase of construction began on September 9, 2022.
What is the environmental impact of this project?
An environmental assessment was conducted by environmental consultants B.A. Blackwell & Associates which concluded that the lift replacement project will have a low environmental impact as the new Gondola alignment travels over previously disturbed areas on the Mountain.
Were trees removed for this project?
Trees were removed during construction for the installation and assembly of the towers within the 14-metre-wide Gondola easement area.
Where will the new Gondola upper terminal be?
The alignment of the new Gondola stays within the existing Tram easement area and ends on the east side of the Chalet. The location of the upper terminal will provide easy access for guests wishing to download.
Where is the money coming from for this project? Is it being funded by public money?
There is no public money being directed to this project. The lift replacement project is a capital investment project being privately funded by Northland Properties.
How do I ride the new gondola?
Once the new gondola opens, Grouse will be in a unique position in that it will offer a journey to the top of the Mountain via the Blue Grouse Gondola, or via the Super Skyride, and with the same ticket covering both options.
Why is it called the Blue Grouse Gondola?
Blue Grouse Gondola is a homage to the Mountain’s original inhabitants that the Resort was named after.
