The Yeti Snowshoe Series has added Grouse Mountain to its quickly growing race series. Now in its 7th season of operation, this addition makes the Yeti a ‘triple crown’ series which includes races at all three North Shore Mountains. The race has both a 5km and 10km option that will cover all of Grouse Mountain’s snowshoe terrain including summiting Dam Mountain and trekking out to Thunderbird Ridge. All athletic abilities and ages are welcome and encouraged to participate.
“We are thrilled to include Grouse Mountain in our Yeti Snowshoe series” says Dave Howells, Yeti series race director. “Grouse Mountain adds some very unique and challenging terrain to the series. The course has a strong personality with scenic vistas and heart pumping climbs. Snowshoeing is the fastest growing winter sport. With a whopping 5.5 million snowshoe participants in 2006, and over 6 million in 2007, snowshoeing has taken off. ”
Being a brand-new race location, which boasts a very interesting course, and with a large population of snowshoe clinic participants, this race has the potential to attract the largest turnout of all Yeti series events.
