March 6, 2008, North Vancouver-
Grouse Mountain’s Observatory Restaurant is proud to announce its Silver Award win for its wine list from the Playhouse International Wine Festival. Up against some of the best restaurants from BC and Alberta, Grouse Mountain is honoured to stand alongside other high profile restaurants.
“We are very excited to win the Silver Award” says Sommelier and Food and Beverage Manager, Brent Fraser. “The competition criteria is quite comprehensive, and we’ve worked very hard developing our wine and food program. Our list now encompasses over 500 selections, and while broad in scope is particularly strong in B.C., France and the U.S. wines. ” Brent has taught classes at UBC as well as for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust .
The goal of this prestigious contest is to recognize the quality, diversity and style of a restaurant’s wine list. Among many factors, judges consider passion and dedication to wine service, education and food pairing as well as organization and presentation. The full run down of Wine Festival winners will be presented in Vancouver Magazine’s Restaurant Awards Edition.
