(North Vancouver) In celebration of the iconic Grouse Grind opening this weekend, Grouse Mountain Resort is excited to announce registration is officially open for the 8th annual Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge, taking place on June 20th, 2024.

The Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge is the only sanctioned event to determine the record-holder for most ascents of the Grouse Grind in a 19-hour period. Participants are set to seek their personal bests and look to break the current record of 19 ascents all while raising valuable funds for North Shore Rescue.

“This year’s Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge will be the last opportunity to break the current record before our new Gondola opens, creating a more efficient way to egress the Mountain for next year’s event,” said Madelaine Twomey, Grouse Mountain Resort Communications Manager. “Last year’s event saw the winner complete an amazing 18 grinds, and more than $25,000 was raised for North Shore Rescue, let’s beat both records this year!”

With the Grouse Grind officially open from 7am on April 27, participants in Grouse Mountain’s 2024 Grind Run Series will now be able to add the challenging hike into their training schedules for the three unique events: Seek the Peak (June 8th), the Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge (June 20th), and the iconic Grouse Grind Mountain Run (August 24th).

The reopening of the Grouse Grind marks the end of extensive transformation providing a safer and more enjoyable experience for hikers including a new trailhead entrance with improved access, new seating, a water fountain, stretching bars, and better access for first responders. The project also saw the replacement of a foot bridge over a creek near the one-quarter mark, and environmental restoration.
