Join us for Grinder and Coola’s 21st Bear-thday Fun-draiser
Supporting Orphaned Grizzly Cub Rewilding
July 6, 2022
(North Vancouver) Bear-y exciting news – Grouse Mountain’s resident Grizzly bears are turning 21! To celebrate,
Grinder and Coola are hosting a Bear-thday Fun-draiser on Saturday, July 16th, in support of the Grizzly Bear
Foundation’s orphaned grizzly bear cub rewilding research – Project Rewild.
“Coola and Grinder are important ambassadors for the conservation and welfare of the grizzly bear,” says Nicholas
Scapillati, Grizzly Bear Foundation Executive Director. “Tragically orphaned at a time when grizzly cubs didn’t have
the opportunity for a second chance at life in the wild, Grinder and Coola were offered a mountaintop refuge like no
other. Together they have inspired and educated people across the globe to care about grizzly bears and the
challenges they face. We are grateful that Grinder and Coola’s birthday celebration will help other orphaned grizzlies
by raising funds for Project Rewild.”
Everyone is welcome to join the fun-filled celebration, which will feature exclusive Bear-thday activities and
educational programs, to raise awareness and support for Grinder and Coola’s wild cousins. Guests are invited to
watch the Grizzly Bear-thday Cake Smash, sign a giant Bear-thday Card for Grinder and Coola and enjoy
storytelling from Squamish Elder, William “Kwel-A-A-Nexw” Nahanee. As part of the festivities, Grouse Mountain
will also be offering Bear-thday-themed food and beverage specials throughout the weekend, including the Grizzly
Amber Ale, brewed exclusively for the Resort.
A portion of proceeds from Mountain Admission tickets, Grouse Grind® Skyride Download tickets, as well as food
and beverage sales, on July 16th will support the Grizzly Bear Foundation’s Project Rewild. Project Rewild is
innovative and world-leading research providing the science and best practices needed to inform and
enhance rewilding efforts in British Columbia and beyond. To learn more about Project Rewild and the event, please visit grousemountain.com/bear-thday.
