Grouse Mountain to Celebrate 90th Winter Season
Community invited to share relevant memorabilia to commemorate historic milestone
September 16, 2016
(North Vancouver) While the summer season is just starting to wind down, the upcoming winter season is fast approaching and it promises to be a very special one here at the Peak of Vancouver. The 2016/17 winter season marks 90 years since the first skiers took to the slopes at Grouse Mountain.
Even preceding the formation of the Tyee Ski Club in 1929 (one of the oldest ski clubs in Canada) reports indicate that local skiers have been enjoying the Mountain since the winter of 1926. From that time forward locals and visitors alike have come to enjoy a wide variety of winter activities here on Grouse Mountain as it has evolved over the years. From the original cabins on the Cut to the opening of the Grouse Mountain Skyride and the new Peak Chalet, we have celebrated many milestones through the years.
Having built a long standing relationship with so many local residents we are hoping that those with photos, old lift tickets and other special historic items might make them known to us. We invite people to contact us at: 90years@grousemountain.com
There will also be opportunities for our local community to celebrate this historic milestone with us at the Peak of Vancouver. We will be sharing further details as the winter season approaches.
