(North Vancouver) In celebration of another fantastic season on the Grouse Grind, the 30th annual Grouse Grind Mountain Run makes the climb on Saturday August 26th, 2023 with participants of all ages invited to take on the iconic trail, known as Mother Nature’s Stairmaster.

While the Grouse Grind is a challenging hike on any given day, the Mountain Run takes the intensity to a whole new level. Athletes sprint, jog, or power-walk their way up the mountain, aiming for their personal best times. It’s a race against both the clock and their own physical limits, and the atmosphere is electric with camaraderie and shared enthusiasm. Those looking to sprint up the mountain will be expected to set times of about 30 minutes or less for the women’s and men’s categories.

The Grouse Grind is located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, known for its steep incline and rugged terrain. It spans 3.0 kilometres (1.86 miles) and features an elevation gain of 853 metres (2,800 feet), and a total of 2,830 stairs. Many consider it a rite of passage, offering a true test of strength and determination. While there is an elite category in the race, people of all ages and abilities were invited to register with the main goal being to compete against yourself.

After completing the race, participants are encouraged to join in the fun at the post-race celebration in the Mountaintop Plaza. Festivities will include award presentations, a recovery zone, BBQ, music and interactive partner activations.

The Grouse Grind Mountain Run features a cash purse for both male and female top finishers:
• 1 st Place: $1,000
• 2 nd Place: $500
• 3 rd Place: $250

There will also be prizes for top male and female in each age category; top teams of 5+ (average of top 5 times); and top family team.

This year’s event carries even greater significance, as it presents an opportunity to continue supporting North Shore Rescue. The recent Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge saw an astounding success, raising over $25,000 for this vital organisation. North Shore Rescue is comprised of dedicated volunteers who provide search and rescue services in the North Shore mountains.

The Grouse Grind Mountain Run is the final event in Grouse Mountain’s Summer Race Series which has seen more than 1,000 competitors take on the challenges at the North Shore Mountain.
