Happy New Years Everyone!  I just wanted to write a post thanking everyone for their support and care for our wildlife over the past year.  2012 was a great year for the Refuge:  Grinder and Coola had another lazy summer and the wolves as well.

It was also our Summer of Owls and Tyto, our resident Barn Owl, was very involved in education and even starred in his own documentary!  He visited with thousands of people and kids this past summer - educating and informing everyone on how cool Barn Owls and other owls are!

Our first Summer Camps were a bit hit as well.  We had lots of wildlife education going on and demonstrated our hummingbird banding project to all camp participants.

Speaking of our Hummingbird project, we had a banner year for Anna's Hummingbirds with more coming up to the top of the mountain than we've ever seen before.  I'm quite excited to see how many return next season.

Finally, we ended off our year with our Peak of Christmas festivities and it was a season to focus on our two Reindeer, Dancer and Vixen.  Our Holly the Jolly Reindeer Skits were very popular and a very fun way to educate people on Caribou and Reindeer.

I'm very excited to be into 2013 and I feel it's going to be another excellent year for us here at the Grouse Mountain Refuge for Endangered Wildlife.

Stay tuned for lots of exciting updates to come.

Happy 2013 Everyone!
