Grinder and Coola have emerged from hibernation! To visit our resident Grizzly bears this weekend, follow the signs on the mountaintop for the best route to the bear habitat. With snow on the mountain, we recommend wearing sturdy, weather-appropriate footwear.
Great news, hikers! The Grouse Grind is officially open today, Friday, April 18th from 7:00am. The trail is now open daily from 7:00am - 6:00pm.

With all this warm weather we've been having this summer, our two orphaned Grizzly Bears, Grinder and Coola have had to spend more time in the water to stay cool.

Both bears love swimming and being in the water - which is why we've expanded their swimming and water areas over the years.  This summer, more than ever, the bears are frequently found lounging in their pools.

Grinder and Coola can often be found just lazing around the pond, swimming, floating, stretching or even sleeping!  When they want some activity to stretch their muscles they'll seek each other out for a good old fashioned water fight.  We've seen them splashing water at each other, dunking each other under the surface and even pushing each other off of the logs and rocks.  It's so much fun to watch!

Next time you are up here, stop by and see if the bears are up to their water antics and spend some time seeing their diverse personalities!
