Summertime has arrived at the Peak of Vancouver, with an incredible variety of activities perfect for the whole family, including our world-famous lumberjack show, Birds in Motion demonstrations, thrilling mountain zipline tours, 360-degree views in the Eye of the Wind, visits with our grizzly bears, dining, shopping…and much more!

You might have heard the buzz building on our mountaintop as we get ready to launch our summer of Small Wonders dedicated to exploring everything there is to know about Grouse Mountain’s tiniest residents including honeybees, hummingbirds, salamanders, butterflies, dragonflies, bats, barn swallows and pikas. Whew!

For the first time, we’re excited to offer hive tours to visitors ages 12 and over, offering a unique opportunity to understand bees by getting up close in a safe environment led by our resident bee keeper. Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime chance to explore an active honey bee hive while learning about these remarkable creatures! Bees are an amazing, integral part of our ecosystem and as key pollinators, they are vital to food production and vegetation.

Small Wonders will also feature The Hive, our bee interpretive centre where you can learn all about our busy friends. Want to brush up on your bee terminology, learn how honey is made and figure out what exactly is the ‘bee dance’? You’ll find all that and more in The Hive!

During your visit, be sure to stop by for a stroll in our beautiful Pollinators’ Garden, specially designed to attract bees, hummingbirds and other pollinators. Hit our mountaintop trails for a scavenger hunt as your family tries to spot each and every one of our Small Wonders in the air and on the ground (look closely!).

For the little ones, our bee mascot will arrive in July and is sure to be a hit for kids and kids at heart. See what you’d look like as a giant butterfly in our Picture Yourself as a Butterfly interactive activity and visit our Small Wonders Gallery in the Chalet to learn fun facts about hummingbirds, pikas, bats and more!

Of course, all of that action might require a rest, so take a load off in our Theatre in the Sky and ‘bee’ inspired by Disneynature’s Wings of Life, playing several times a day in our Theatre in the Sky. Join us this summer as we ‘think small’!
