Milan Lucic Celebrates With The Stanley Cup At Grouse Mountain
Hometown hero picks the Peak of Vancouver for a private party with friends and family.
August 15, 2011
Back in June, when Vancouver’s Milan Lucic won the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins he made it clear that heading up Grouse Mountain was on the top of his to-do list.
Yesterday, Grouse Mountain was pleased to welcome Milan, the Stanley Cup as well as his friends and family to the Peak of Vancouver for a special private celebration. Local media and Grouse Mountain visitors were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the NHL's biggest prize as it rode the Skyride before taking centre stage at Milan’s party in the Timber Room.
With the city of Vancouver in the background, Milan raised the Stanley Cup above his head to take a photo that he had dreamt about re-enacting since he won the Memorial Cup with the Vancouver Giants. Back in 2007, the Giants also came to Grouse Mountain to celebrate and Milan one day hoped to replace that trophy with the Stanley Cup. Yesterday that dream finally became a reality.
Grouse Mountain and all our staff members congratulate Milan and the Boston Bruins on their victory and we hope the Stanley Cup makes another trip to Vancouver in the near future - with the Canucks.
