Your Child’s Day
Your child spends their lesson with their instructor to safely explore the mountain in a fun and social environment while learning to ski or snowboard.
Children are grouped with similar ages and ability. Please ensure that at the time of booking you enrolled your child in the appropriate ability level as we cannot guarantee that we can move them to another group the day of lessons. Please visit
https://www.grousemountain.com/ski-snowboard-ability/ to find out more about ability levels.
Actual time on snow will vary depending on weather conditions, ability and stamina. Children who are in the early stages of learning will take more frequent breaks throughout the day as needed to rest and recharge.
First day check-in starts in the Valley Plaza (at the base under the Red Skyride) 30 minutes prior to the scheduled lesson time to allow for ticket pick-up and registration. For all other sessions, please meet the instructor 15 minutes prior to scheduled lesson time in the Valley Plaza.
You will receive a follow up email the week prior to your camp date outlining important information for your camp, including check in and check out procedure and further information regarding waivers, lift tickets and rentals.

What to Wear
Please ensure that your child is equipped with the following and that all belongings are labelled:
- Helmets are mandatory for all camp participants. Please ensure you have a helmet designed for recreational snow sports.
o Helmets are included with all rental packages for children. o If your child has their own equipment, but requires a helmet, you can rent one for an additional $5 + tax at the time of registration. o Helmets can also be purchased at Outfitters in the Chalet, where passholders receive a 20% discount on their purchase.
- As Mountain conditions change rapidly, dress your child in layers and appropriately for the weather. We recommend:
o Warm base layer such as long johns and long-sleeved shirt
o Warm fleece or sweater
o Waterproof winter jacket and snow pants
o Warm socks
o Waterproof gloves or mittens
- We recommend ski googles, a hat and extra socks. These items are not available to rent.
- If your child is renting, please ensure they have winter footwear as they will be walking through snow to access the rental building.
Food & Snacks
All camp programming stops for snack breaks throughout the lesson. The snack is not included so please pack your child something to eat. Please be aware Camps are a ‘Nut Free’ zone, please help us keep children safe and refrain from including any food containing nuts.
Full Day programs stop for both lunch and snack breaks. Please pack a lunch and snacks if your child is registered for a full day program or take advantage of Full Day Lunch Add On. Please contact Guest Services if you would like to purchase the lunch add on.
Rental Information
All rentals for the camps are pre-set before the child attends. Please make sure that we have the correct and most up to date information (height, weight, shoe size, ability level) as this will help the process run smoother. The instructor will assist with collection of rental equipment upon reaching the top of the Mountain.
For holiday and Spring Break camps, rental equipment will be taken home with students. Please ensure the equipment is brought back for every lesson through the camp. Participants' shoes will be kept and stored for the duration of the camp as well.
Tickets
If you have purchased lift tickets with your camp, these will be available with your child’s instructor on the first day of the camp.
Adult Discounts on Lessons and Tickets
