The slopes will come alive this weekend at Grouse Mountain with the speed of racers as the Tyee Ski Club plays host to the Miele FIS Slalom Ski Race on March 17 and 18. This high caliber event is making its return to Grouse Mountain after a 12 year hiatus having been staged at mountains outside Vancouver. Grouse Mountain is pleased that this exceptional racing event is finally coming back to the city.

The best and the brightest Olympic hopefuls from Western Canada and the U.S.A. will be racing between 9:30am and 2:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Over 80 athletes ranging in age from 15 to 22 including many top junior races in the country will be competing.  Racers Blake Ramsden and Austin Llewellyn who are fresh off podium finishes at the Canadian Junior Nationals in Whistler last weekend will be in attendance.

All of the action will take place on Expo with highly experienced course-setters and judges ready to ensure that everything runs smoothly on race day as the athletes are sure to bring their best performances.  Spectators are encouraged to come along and cheer on all the racers.

Grouse Mountain and the Tyee Ski Club are hopeful that this race will begin a new tradition in FIS racing at the Peak of Vancouver helping to promote excellence in alpine ski racing right here in B.C.
