About Us: Sustainability

Social

Fostering a loyal and happy workforce and community means reduced training costs, employee expertise, guest returns. More efficiency means more investment in sustainable infrastructure. Below are a few social initiatives we have taken on with our Blue Grouse philosophy. This is by no means a comprehensive or final list, but it provides a description of what is already happening at the Peak of Vancouver.

  • The Refuge for Endangered Wildlife is a research, education, and conservation centre.
  • Over 15,000 school children participate in Grouse Mountain’s highly subsidized Adventures in Education Programs every year.
  • Grouse Mountain has reached $1M in charitable and community donations.
  • The Grouse Grind Mountain Run raises funds for the Adopt an Athlete program, while the Seek the Peak Relay partners with Rethink Breast Cancer to raise money and awareness. In winter, our award-winning Peak of Christmas celebration raises funds for the SOS Children’s Village.
  • This winter, we worked with the Karen Magnussen Foundation to raise funds and awareness, promoting athleticism among youth.
  • This same commitment to youth sport was demonstrated as Grouse Mountain was once again home to the First Nations Snowboard Team.
  • Grouse Mountain provides affordable access rates for community organizations.
  • We are proud to be the largest employer of youth on the North Shore. Among the benefits we offer to our employees are: a smoking cessation program, a subsidized education program, sponsored employee sports teams, and facilitated employee car-pooling. This is in addition to a competitive benefit and retirement savings package.
  • Grouse Mountain hosts public education sessions on snow safety. We involve prominent groups such as Adventure Smart and the Canadian Avalanche Association in these sessions.
  • We are home to Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports and help them promote winter sport among adaptive athletes.
